Will the 13-month-old credit crunch get even worse and drag down the entire global economy? Or are punch-drunk Americans due for some good news for a change?
I absolutely agree that the H1B program is no longer needed. Not only have American companies abused this program, it is insane to continue to import 200,00 foreign workers a year (with three year visas that easily extend to six years) that compete with American workers. These workers do not go home after their contracts end, but compete with US workers for available positions as long as their sponsorship continues. Their spouses also enter into the workplace displacing even more Americans. Many US companies have SOW contracts directly with foreign companies (particularly Indian) and bypass interviewing Americans completely. Taxation on those companies off-shoring US jobs would also help alleviate the shortage of jobs here. Enough is enough.
My husband is here on a H1-B visa and you obviously know squat about this Visa- it is used to bring in Skilled workers like doctors and nurses, engineers, because of the shortage in these fields- perhaps if the gov't put an emphasis on education, more Americans could fill these much needed voids in the workplace. We are Canadian and are here legally. Do your homework on Immigration before you comment. This land was built by immigrants, we are not the bad guys- and we are not the reason Americans are losing their jobs. Educate yourself!
